A Festival of Landmark

An online festival of content inspired by our wonderful buildings and places held in September 2020. All content is still available so please read on...

2020 has been a strange year. Normally in September, we fling open the doors of Landmarks across Britain as we join Heritage Open Days, as well as Cadw’s Open Doors and Historic Environment Scotland’s Doors Open Days. This year we did it a bit differently by moving our open days online. And the best news is that we're keeping the content available even though the official Open Days weekends have now passed.

Our online Festival of Landmark 2020 gives access to some of our best loved buildings via podcasts, videos and webinars. Meet the people who care for our historic sites as well as those who have been inspired by them, as you delve into history, enjoy stories and songs, discover new visual arts and crafts, and meet some of the people behind the scenes at Landmark. You’ll meet artists, craftspeople, musicians, architects, housekeepers, historians. And the best news is that it can all be accessed from the comfort of your armchair, wherever you are.

All videos have subtitles, a few with Welsh versions, and many podcasts have been separately transcribed.

Day two

Llwyn Celyn and art

Our project at Llwyn Celyn was an invitation for creative artists from many disciplines to respond to the history of the site and the work in progress. Light installations, poetry, drawings and mystical, musical, moments all combined and have left a lasting legacy of artwork on site.

Landscapes

Our landscapes are more than just a backdrop to our buildings, but create complementary histories and dramas of their own. Today, we look in more detail at how our buildings settle into the world around them.
